AAL REALISTIC MARITIME TARGET A HIT WITH ROYAL NEW ZEALAND NAVY MISSILE

Air Affairs Limited (AAL) played a significant role in the first successful launch of a Penguin anti-ship guided missile by a Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) Seasprite helicopter.

To ensure the accuracy and precision vectoring of the missile, AAL were tasked by the RNZN to produce a bespoke target that simulated the radar and infrared signatures of an enemy combatant.

The realistic nature of the target performed exceptionally well and met the RNZN’s operational requirements. The successful firing of the Penguin missile continues the longstanding relationship between AAL and the RNZN, showcasing AAL’s commitment to providing high-quality defence solutions.

Built from environmentally friendly and sustainable materials, the target and debris were then recovered and returned to port, minimising the impact on the environment and potentially able to be reused for future engagements.

Our relationship with the RNZN extends over 40 years, providing trusted and reliable operational support services to its fleet to enable realistic training and supporting operations throughout New Zealand and abroad.
